Who We Are
We are an alliance between Ohio State University Extension, Franklin County, and the Ohio State University Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens.
The Franklin County Master Gardener Advisory Committee (FCMGAC) consults with Franklin County Extension Director, Marilyn Rabe, to organize and run the Program, including setting the yearly agenda, organizing training, maintaining volunteer records, coordinating the garden information line, and assisting with outreach, including public education programs, youth outreach, and booth displays at public events.
The Franklin County Master Gardener program was the first in Ohio. It ran from 1979 to 1982. AmeriFlora '92 brought public interest in horticulture to an all time high, and Franklin County Extension and OSU Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens partnered in 1993 to train Master Gardeners.
