The 2016 Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens Plant Sale and Auction is May 5–7.

A buckeye tree with deep-scarlet flowers, sure to appeal to diehard Ohio State fans, is one of the more than 650 uncommon plant types available at the Chadwick Arboretum Annual Spring Fundraising Plant Sale & Auction. There will be a diverse selection of trees, shrubs, herbs, annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, garden art, Mother’s Day gifts you won’t find anywhere else. This year, we are also excited to announce, we will have the largest selection of vegetable and herb plants  ANYWHERE in Central Ohio! We will have seedlings grown by our Ohio State students with the Crop and Soil Science Club and Pi Alpha Xi (Horticulture and Floriculture Honor Society). And this year, Swainway Urban Farms was hired to grow heirloom and certified organic vegetables for our sale. If you grow your own food or know of a local community garden, please share this great news!

Nearly a dozen commercial plant, art, and garden vendors will be at the event, as will several plant-related Ohio State student groups. Plus WOSU’s “All Sides with Ann Fisher” public affairs radio program will broadcast live on Friday morning. 

Admission both days is free, with convenient parking (see map below).

Friends of Chadwick Preview Party: 
Thursday May 5, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. with the Acution starting at 6:00 p.m. This year we will be offering a Silent Auction for a few select plants as well as the general auction. Check in at the Auction tent for details.

If you are not a current Friend of Chadwick Arboretum, you can become one now by clicking here. If you become a member now, you can bring your membership card with you on Thursday night to avoid the membership checkin line. Or, if you want to wait, you can become a member on Thursday night. Thursday night is a members-only garden gala with a reception including gourmet food, entertainment, first pick of plants, and a discount on Chadwick Arboretum plants.

Open to the Public: 
Friday, May 6, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 7, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

There is an Auction of unusual trees and shrubs each day starting at 9:00 a.m.

New in 2016 – 4 Free Parking Areas including 2 Schottenstein Lots

In 2016, patrons will be able to park for free in one of 4 areas for our sale:

  • Handicap Parking is available behind the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center
  • Schottenstein Center Lots Gray 1 and Gray 2 (NE corner of Lane Avenue and Fred Taylor Drive). Be sure to only park in these 2 Schottenstein lots. Other Gray lots will be ticketed.
  • Vivian Hall Lot (SW corner of Lane and Fyffe Road.
