Thinking of purchasing a home? OSU Extension, Franklin County is one of only a handful of organizations in our area that offers HUD-certified and City of Columbus-approved home buyer educational workshops. Join us for two free classes on July 9 and July 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn more about creating a budget, understanding your credit score and its impact on mortgage loans, and the home buying process. You'll also receive information about grants and loans that may be available to you, as well as have the chance to network with lenders, realtors, and home inspectors and receive one-on-one counseling to guide you in the home buying process. Income-eligible participants purchasing a home in Columbus also could receive assistance for their down payment or closing costs.
Those who attend both workshops (July 9 and July 16) and particiate in the one-on-one counseling will receive a HUD-approved Certificate of Completion, which often is required to apply for various down payment and closing cost assistance programs in Columbus, Franklin County, and other local municipalities.
Classes are free and held at the Schoenbaum Family Center (175 E. 7th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio). To register for the classes or to learn more, call 614-247-1983.
