Extension Connections Franklin County
Inaugural Issue / June 2015
Dear Friend of OSU Extension,
Greetings from Ohio State University Extension - Franklin County. Welcome to the first edition of the Extension Connections e-newsletter. The Franklin County Extension team and I are excited to provide an opportunity for you to keep a pulse on the activities and programs offered by your local OSU Extension office. Each forthcoming e-newsletter will offer timely and relevant information from each of our four program areas (4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Community Development, and Family and Consumer Sciences), team highlights, as well as a calendar of events, which are hosted by OSU Extension - Franklin County or held in collaboration with our community partners.
In select editions of the e-newsletter, I will also provide reflections from my viewpoint as your County Extension Director on current issues in Extension. Since assuming this position last September, I have had the opportunity to engage with a large base of brilliant individuals and have been afforded many strategic opportunities to enhance awareness of and expand the work of OSU Extension. From members of the Ohio General Assembly, to the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, to members of local city councils, to fellow colleagues, to passionate residents of communities including Linden, Upper Arlington, the Hilltop, Hilliard, and Weinland Park—we all share one common vision for Franklin County and that is to help shape our community into a space where we can all live happier, healthier, more prosperous lives. Franklin County has a vast network of leaders and supporters who are working collaboratively to ensure continued growth and development in our community. As your County Extension Director, please know that this is also my commitment to you. My team and I are positioned and prepared to continue to live out Extension’s mission of strengthening lives and communities through research-based educational programming. OSU Extension is proud of its 100-year legacy in service to our community. I invite you to engage with us in this ongoing process as OSU Extension - Franklin County ushers in our next 100 years of excellence.
Lastly, as Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and your local Extension office look to the future and seek to determine the best ways to be of service to you and your family, we hope that you will help us to inform this process locally. We will be in touch soon with an invitation to engage in a local conversation on the “Future of Extension.” If you can’t wait share your thoughts, no problem! We invite you to engage with us on Twitter. We would like to know “How can OSU Extension best meet the needs of Ohio and/or Franklin County residents between now and the year 2035?” Please use #FranklinFuture to share your comments. Also, for the latest updates follow us on Twitter @OSUEFranklin.
