The Columbus City Council and Franklin County Board of Commissioners recently adopted the completed Columbus and Franklin County Local Food Action Plan. Based on the belief that everyone who calls central Ohio home should have access to nutritious and affordable food, the plan was developed by both city and county leadership with support from Local Matters and key community stakeholders, including OSU Extension. Mike Hogan, OSU Extension, Franklin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, was a member of the group working on the project, which provides a framework to build a healthy, strong, and resilient local food system. In November Mike gave testimony about the project's importance at the Columbus City Council public hearing and Franklin County Board of Commissioners public meeting.
