OSU Extension, Franklin County is proud to be part of a team of consultants working to develop an Urban Agriculture Strategic Plan for the City of Columbus. Ultimately, the plan will aid city officials in establishing or revising policies, procedures, and zoning ordinances to help encourage accelerated growth of urban agriculture as an economic development strategy for the city.

As part of the planning process, 13 City of Columbus employees recently participated in a day-long urban agriculture tour in Cleveland, Ohio, which was organized by OSU Extension faculty members. The tour was designed to familiarize the city employees with the types of policies, regulations, and procedures that would be needed to encourage the growth of urban agriculture enterprises in Columbus.
