We would like to congratulate and thank Marilyn Rabe, Family Consumer Science Educator, for her 26 years of dedicated service. Marilyn’s career started with Ohio State University Extension in Jefferson County as a Family Consumer Science (FCS) Program Assistant in 1992. Two years later Marilyn moved to Franklin County in the same position. Her time as a program assistant included answering the Home Ec Hotline as well as training volunteers for the Household Hazardous Waste Collections. She was promoted to FCS Educator in 1996. In this position, she worked to expand FCS programming in Franklin County. Programs under Marilyn’s guidance included SNAP-Ed, EFNEP, Senior Series as well as general FCS programming. Marilyn also served as County Director several times during her tenure in Franklin County.

Marilyn’s favorite extension memories include all of the wonderful people she was able to meet and worked with including staff, community members, volunteers and youth. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to travel around the country and grow both personally and professionally. In a recent interview as part of EFNEP’s 50th anniversary celebration Marilyn was asked to share a favorite success story. Marilyn shared, “A favorite success has to be seeing new Program Assistants who have no teaching experience develop into outstanding teachers in the community. It changed not only their lives, but also the lives of their students. Several who have worked here went on to complete advanced degrees and improve their lives and the lives of their families.”
