It's true, "A Baby Changes Everything," and OSU Extension, Franklin County's Community Development Program area has a program to support new family beginnings! The Community Development team collaborates with Action for Children to hold The New Beginnings for New Fathers workshops. These workshops are for men 16 to 25 years of age who are young, new, or expectant fathers, or adult fathers who have at least one child under the age of one.
The Community Development team facilitates workshops to prepare fathers for the financial change and responsibility of building a family. The New Beginnings for New Fathers series educates fathers on how to create a budget, save, establish and build a line of credit, and change their perspective of banking to benefit their families. "The goal of The New Beginnings for New Fathers program is to create better parents, better partners, and better families." said Susan Colbert, Community Development Program Director.
The New Beginnings for New Fathers program made national headlines in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Winter 2018 Newsletter. If you know of any fathers in your life would that benefit from the workshop or would like to receive more information, please contact Community Development Program Director, Susan Colbert by email at colbert.22@osu.edu, or at 614-297-3861 or 614-866-6900 ext. 236.
