    The Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteers will have an exhibit at The Columbus Dispatch Fall Home & Garden Showwhich starts Friday, September 8 and runs through Sunday, September 10, at the Ohio Expo Center.

    Dates for the next Ohio Master Urban Farmer Workshop have been announced!

    Classes will be Thursday evenings 6:30-9:30 p.m. starting September 14, 2017 and ending November 16, 2017. There will be a Columbus Urban Ag bus tour on Sunday, September 24. Workshop classes will be held at the Franklin County Extension Office (530 W. Spring St, Suite 275, Columbus, OH 43215).

    September: 14, 21, 28,  24 bus tour

    October: 5, 12, 19, 26

    November: 2, 9, 16

    Thank you to everyone who attended the OSUE, Franklin County Friends and Neighbors Open House. What a joyful occasion. The OSUE, Franklin County team remains grateful to have had the opportunity to see and engage with so many new and familiar faces.   6. REAL MONEY. REAL WORLD. REAL LESSONS.

    "Life is complicated," is one youth participant's realization after completing the "Real Money. Real World." (RMRW) curriculum. The RMRW events allow youth to experience a realistic, hands-on preview into the financial responsibilities of an adult. During the event, youth are given a career and a base income to help them learn how to financially prioritize needs versus wants.

    We are pleased to announce that Central State University, our nation’s newest 1890 land-grant institution is in full partnership with and now co-located alongside Ohio State University Extension in Franklin County. We are elated to welcome our new colleague Renita Porter, of Columbus, Ohio to the Franklin County team. Renita serves as the Central State University, Franklin County Extension Agent, and her area of focus will be Family and Consumer Sciences.

  9. Franklin County Extension Director Awarded Fellowship with the American Council on Education

    Congratulations to our County Director, Laquore Meadows for being recognized as an emerging leader in higher education by the American Council on Education and for being named as a 2017-2018 ACE Fellow. The ACE Fellows program is the most prestigious leadership program in the higher education profession. Since its inception, ACE has through its nominator driven, cohort-based mentorship model prepared nearly 1,900 faculty, staff, and administrators for senior level positions at colleges and universities across the United States.

    Now is the time to wake up and spring forward into a new health routine. Don’t just reset your clocks; reset your lifestyle with a renewed commitment to making small but vital changes. Join OSU Extension, Franklin County as our Family Consumer Sciences program area begins the Spring Forward 4 Health Email Challenge. Participation is free! Two email messages filled with encouraging links and a health tracking log will be sent to each participant starting April 10. The challenge runs through May 22, 2017.
